Ibn Battuta Mall: The Themed Mall Named After a Traveller
A guide to Ibn Battuta Mall in Dubai — six themed courts (Andalusia, Tunisia, Egypt, Persia, India, China), shopping, dining, and Carrefour.
1 min read

Ibn Battuta Mall tells the story of the 14th-century Moroccan traveller Ibn Battuta across six themed courts: Andalusia, Tunisia, Egypt, Persia, India and China. The architecture is worth the visit on its own — hand-painted ceilings, a life-sized junk ship, 25-metre domes. Lower rents mean smaller crowds and real bargains.
The six courts
Andalusia (Moorish fountain, red/ochre), Tunisia (ochre arches, traditional market feel), Egypt (giant hieroglyphs and a replica temple), Persia (blue tilework and the mall's biggest dome), India (Mughal palace architecture), China (Zheng He's treasure ship suspended over the court). The architecture alone is a 30-minute walking tour.
Shopping
Mid-range focus — Carrefour hypermarket (biggest in Dubai), Centrepoint, Decathlon, Marks & Spencer, Debenhams, Max Fashion. Luxury is thin here on purpose; Ibn Battuta is where locals come for value shopping and errands.
Dining and cinemas
20+ restaurants mostly in Egypt and China courts: ChaiOs, Texas Roadhouse, Chili's, Hatam (Persian), Shangri-La bar. Novo Cinemas with 21 screens including a 4D theatre.
Getting there
Metro Red Line to Ibn Battuta station — enters directly into Egypt court. By car: free parking under all six courts. From Dubai Marina, it's a 15-minute drive down Sheikh Zayed Road.
